Eclectic Selections Found at World Market
For a wonderful, eclectic selection of wines, check out World Market. This afternoon, I stopped in at the World Market a the Rim this afternoon and found just that, a surprisingly eclectic selection of wines, most under $20. They were having a special on all white and rosé wines, offering 15% off the purchase of only 4 bottles.
They had about 8-10 rosés, not including White Zinfandel, that’s quite a few for the small area dedicated to wines. I chose one from France and Muldersbosch from South Africa. Their selection included domestic and other imports. They had numerous Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blanc from all over the world, including a good selection from our own Washington State. Most Pinot Grigios were from Italy, and they offered a Montepulciano d’Abruzzo from Cantina Zaggagmini. (I’ve never tasted a bad Montepulciano d’Abruzzo).
One of the more interesting wines they offered was a Pinot Noir from Baden, Germany, not every wine store offers such wine. Their other Pinot Noirs came mostly from California, but that is where well priced Pinot Noir is made today.
The World Market at the Rim also had a reasonable selection of Texas wines, mostly in the sweeter style but the selection was present. Saki was well represented, as well as Champagnes. In fact, their selection of well noted Champagne was quite good, nothing too pricey, but solid wines. They, of course have a good selection of all the accessories that go with wine, wine racks, cork keys, glasses, etc. World Market may not be the grand wine shop some like to shop at, but if you are looking for good prices and eclectic wines, World Market is a good place to explore, if only on occasion.
Check out the Wine Ratings page for descriptions of some of the wines found there.
